Emily Tubbs, New “Woman in Tech” of the Academy of Technologies

The “Femmes de Tech“ network brings together young women mentored by a female or male technology academic. Each year, inspiring women who wish to encourage young people to pursue careers in technology and who are willing to exchange ideas with one another while sharing their insights and experiences with the academic community are highlighted. Emily Tubbs, a researcher at CEA-Irig/BGE, is one of the newest members of this network, mentored in 2026 by Xavier Gidrol.

Emily Tubbs works as a researcher at CEA-Irig/BGE/Biomics, studying pancreatic islet organoids with a view to developing personalized medicine for type 1 diabetes. This research is conducted in close collaboration with CEA-Leti. Thanks to technologies developed with Leti—particularly in microfluidics—she is taking her biological models even further, with a vision of applying them to personalized medicine for patients with diabetes: monitoring pancreatic islet transplants, testing new drugs, understanding the onset of the disease, and more.
