A protease to counteract the activation of the immune response


Many inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn's disease, for example) result from excessive activation of immune defense mechanisms against non-p​athogenic commensal bacteria that are usually present and well-tolerated in the intestinal tract. A study conducted on the of fruit flies by researchers at our institute, in collaboration with a researcher from the Jacques Monod institute, provided a better understanding of tolerance mechanisms of intestinal flora.
