A toxin sensing silicon chip

​​​​​​​​​​​​​On the basis of a specific interaction between known toxins and ion channels, researchers within our institute have developed a silicon chip that detects the presence of toxins via the modulation of cellular electrical current. This chip is expected to automate the testing process and ultimately, directly translate the electrical signature into a poisoning warning signal. This principle can be adapted to the control of bathing water, the food industry etc.
