SeedUSoon: Management of transgenic plant lines

Published on 5 February 2019

Implied laboratory
Laboratory of Developmental Plant Biology (LBDP)
Biosciences and Biotechnologies Institute of Aix-Marseille (BIAM).
Scientific context
The LBDP laboratory studies the impact of phosphate deficiency on plant physiology. As a lot of research teams working in the plant field, a lot of transgenic plant lines are generated. This activity requires to keep track of the origin of the plants and to manage the localization of the seeds.
Few tools allow to manage this information with accuracy. A lot of time is spent searching information in laboratory notebooks. This is why the SeedUSoon software has been developed.
Description of the project
The SeedUSoon software allows to manage the following information for each line of the laboratory:
- origin (crossing between two lines, mutagenesis of a line…)
- mutations
- plants (phenotype…)
- seeds (storage area…).
A search engine allows to find quickly the lines that match the search criteria.
Used technologies
Desktop application developed with Java (Netbeans Platform, Spring, JPA, AspectJ, JUnit), Maven, MySQL.
