AFMData: Management of Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) images

Published on 3 October 2020

Implied laboratory
Molecular Interactions and Recognition Laboratory (LIRM)
Biosciences and Biotechnologies Institute of Aix-Marseille (BIAM)
Scientific context
The LIRM laboratory uses the Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) as main measurement instrument. This microscopy generates a huge quantity of data because the experiments need a lot of acquisitions.
It is difficult to manage this quantity of images. But it is very frequent to reuse old images: so it is important to annotate them.
Description of the project
In order to manage easily this huge quantity of images, a software called AFMData has been developed. This software allows to:
- store the AFM images
- annotate these images (experimental conditions, acquisition parameters…)
- search the images by criteria
Used technologies
Desktop application developed with Java (Netbeans Platform, Spring, JPA, AspectJ, JUnit), MySQL.
